Boeing Receives Purchase Orders Aircraft 787 Dreamliner
Boeing has received 851 orders for its long-range 787 Dreamliner plane from 56 airlines, the head of Boeing France said on Jan. 19, describing the tally as “historic.”
Yves Galland said that the order total took account of 84 cancellations, 83 of which were received last year.
But he said the order total was “historic for the launch of an aircraft.”
The first of the planes will be delivered to the Japanese carrier ANA in the last quarter of 2010.
Because of composite materials used in its construction, the 787, which has made 15 test flights but is two years behind schedule, can cut fuel consumption by 20%, according to Galland.
“We are very aware of the problems that we have encountered but we are very confident about the future,” he added.

Chassis are Aluminum Too
Chassis are Aluminum Too. Manufacturers are maximizing the abundance of aluminum. Nowadays, people can see aluminum everywhere: in their houses, offices, streets. This is because aside from the fact that aluminum is very easy to acquire, it also has different chemical and thermal properties that are suitable in different equipments. You can see aluminum from very simple parts like lighting fixtures to complicated ones like automotive parts. The production of aluminum parts depends on how precise the parts should be.
Chassis is one of the examples that can be produced using aluminum. Aluminum is a perfect choice for this because aluminum can withstand high temperatures and people know that generally, chassis is exposed to high temperatures may it be in cars or musical equipments. One of the processes that can be used in chassis production is die casting. In this process, the metal will be melted by exposing to extremely high temperature and will be injected in the mold or “die”. The die will be set aside until the metal solidified and then the casts or the parts will be removed to the die. In one die, many aluminum chassis casts can be made and the production is also faster as compared to other metals. This makes aluminum so economical for the abundance and mass production possibilities.

Kraft Buys Cadbury Chocolate $18 Billion
Cadbury, a monument to the British chocolate bar, fell on Jan. 19 to U.S. giant Kraft by accepting an offer worth 11.5 billion pounds which creates a world leader in food and confectionery.
The pair announced hat Cadbury management had agreed to a takeover worth 840 pence per share — valuing the group at the equivalent of 13.1 billion euros or $18.9 billion.
Cadbury-Kraft will provide large cost savings and create a global market leader, with annual sales totaling more than $100 million.
The takeover will end more than 180 years of history for the colourful maker of Dairy Milk chocolate bars and Trident chewing gum. Cadbury, the world’s second-biggest confectionery company behind Mars, also produces chocolate bar brands Crunchie, Fudge, Flake and Wispa.
Kraft, the world’s second-biggest snacks group after Nestle, makes numerous well-known products including Dairylea cheese, Milka and Toblerone chocolate and Oreo cookies.
“Kraft Foods believes a combination represents a strong and complementary strategic fit, creating a global confectionery leader with a portfolio of more than 40 confectionery brands each with annual sales in excess of $100 million,” a company statement said.
News of a friendly takeover also marks the end of months of hostilities over the control of Cadbury, which began life as a small grocer’s shop in Birmingham, central England, in 1824.
In reaction to the announcement, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that his government was determined to help save jobs at Cadbury. “We are determined that the levels of investment that take place in Cadbury in the United Kingdom are maintained and we are determined that, at a time when people are worried about their jobs, that jobs in Cadbury can be secure,” Brown said.

Removing Heat in a Cheaper and Faster Way
Removing Heat in a Cheaper and Faster Way. Heat sinks are important in electronic applications or products because they absorb the heat to avoid overheat and malfunction. These aluminum heat sinks are designed in such a way that the heat coming from the electrical wires and other parts that are prone to heat production will be diverted to them. Since heatsinks are very important in many electronic products, manufacturers are designing cheaper and faster ways to produce them. One of the popular materials used in heat sinks is aluminum and these heat sinks are dicasted.
Aluminum is a strong metal that is perfect in making heat sinks. It is also easy to mold but very durable and can withstand high temperatures. The abundance of aluminum also makes it possible to produce cheaper products as compared to other metals. Die-casting is one of the best ways to make heat sinks. With diecasting, detailed heat sinks are produced in a short period of time, thus mass production is possible. Once heat sinks are produced, they are just mounted on the printed circuit board or the PC board of the electronic products. With this, the diversion of heat is now possible so as to prevent malfunction and can lead to longer lifespan of the application.

Porosity in Die Castings
There are many forms of Die Casting Porosity, many are caused by these die casting variables:
- Metal Temperatures and Mold Temperatures.
- Material Cleanliness.
- Die Casting Mold Design.
- Die Casting Part Design.
- Die Casting Machine Pressures.
- Die Casting Machine Shot Speed.
- Die Casting Spray or Die Casting Mold Release.
- Other forms of porosity can be from “shrinkage” or wall thickness.
What is Die Casting Porosity? In order for you to know what die casting porosity is, you need to know the die casting basics. The most common form of Die Casting Porosity is a kind of factory defect in which die cast parts contain small pockets of void space and air within the metal, causing it to become porous.
Porosity in Die Casting is the air trapped by the metal inside the die casting parts. To know more, a basic knowledge of the die casting process is necessary. Die casting is a process wherein a particular amount of molten metal is put inside a shot cylinder, then it is applied (plunged) with great force with a piston so as to force the metal into a die cast mold or die cast die. During this “plunging process”, air inside the cylinder is forced along with the metal into the die casting mold. It is a very fluid turbulent process. The air forced into the mold with the metal and the metal already inside the mold is forced out of the mold through a series of gates, vents and overflows.
After this, the metal is left to cool down and harden or freeze inside the mold. The metal is then removed as a die cast part. The same process is repeated over again.
Die casting companies use metals which are non-ferrous, or do not contain Iron, as this is the highest factor for oxidation and rusting. Several examples of non-ferrous metals include zinc, aluminum, lead, magnesium, tin and copper. Kinetic Die Casting only uses aluminum and zinc.
In the worst case, porosity in die casting parts, weakens die casting parts, if the voids or pockets are very large. Porosity typically matters most in pressure tight die casting parts. When the air escapes through a die casting part, it is typically caused by porosity.
Employees of Kinetic Die Casting are POROSITY EXPERTS in die casting parts that need to be free of porosity. http://www.kineticdiecasting.com/porosity.html
