Die Casting Company for Sale

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

I had lunch today with the owner of a die casting company who expressed an interest in selling his die casting company. He does not want to sell his company but he may need to sell it if his sales continue to drop. His annual sales this year will amount to less than one fourth of his highest annual sales. He is too young to retire and he is concerned about his future. The reason he is talking to me today is that I purchased a few other die casting companies in the last few years. You can read more details from our Kinetic Die Casting Company History page.

In 2004 –
C&D Die Casting Company (C&D)
November 2004, C&D in Chatsworth, CA contacted KDC to help produce parts for customers. C&D produced insert tools for their customers in a special custom mold base. These mold bases were very difficult to replicate. C&D announced that they needed to go out of business and KDC purchased those special mold bases and tooling to make parts for the C&D customer’s.

In 2005 –
Spencer Die Casting Company (SDC)
In 2005, KDC contacted the owner of Spencer Die Casting Company, Tom Jordan, to see if he had a small die casting machine available for sell. Tom suggested that KDC come and look at his equipment and make an offer. Tom was frustrated with how the declining California Die Casting industry was effecting SDC. Tom offered to sell the entire assets of SDC to KDC. KDC purchased all the Spencer Die Casting Company assets. Spencer Die Casting Company closed their business.

In 2009 –
Coast Die Casting Company (CDC)
Richard White, the owner of Coast Die Casting Company contacted KDC to say he was ready to sell CDC. He had ran out of money to keep the doors open. July 2009. KDC purchased all the CDC assets. CDC sent all their mold bases and die casting tooling to KDC to continue to serve the CDC customers. Coast Die Casting Company closed.

Kinetic Die Casting Company is aggressively interested in purchasing other small die casting companies. Contact me if you are a small die casting company owner, and you are interested in getting out of the die casting business.

Examples of Die Casting Aluminum Parts

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

Examples of Die Casting Aluminum Parts. Aluminum is a very common light weight metal that is found in almost all of the things we use every day. At home, in different modes of transportation, in small and big things, there is aluminum. As it has many combinations and useful properties, aluminum is a great candidate for die casting.

Die casting is a process wherein you make metallic parts by pressuring molten metal into a mold. There are many examples of die casting aluminum parts that are commonly used in our daily lives. It can be as mundane as a door handle or as complicated as an automotive part. Here is a list of examples of die casting aluminum parts that you may not know:

-

There are aluminum parts made by die casting that is found in aircrafts. Some of these aircrafts include the B-52H BUFF and the F-117A Nighthawk Attack Fighter.

-

Door handles and faucet handles are mostly composed of die casted aluminum parts. Many prefer aluminum for architecture aesthetics because of its good finish and good weight to strength ratio.

-

Golf clubs are also made by casting aluminum for a lighter but still sturdy club.
- Aluminum parts are also popular in the house lighting industry because of the metal’s conductivity of electricity and light weight.

-

Nowadays, aluminum roof tile molds are also being considered by many roofing tile construction firms for house construction.

The die casting industry is prominent all over the world, as there are many applications for the parts that they produce (as seen in some of the examples of die casting aluminum parts mentioned above).

Delmar Die Casting Tooling

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

I have received several RFQ’s (requests for quote) from prior DelMar Die Casting Company customers lately. These RFQ’s are for zinc die casting parts. Delmar Die Casting Company left a large hole in the Southern California zinc die casting economy. Many of these prior Delmar Die Casting Company customers and potential Kinetic Die Casting Company customers have their die casting tooling in their possession. Not all the tools are what you would expect. Some are die casting tooling inserts and some are unit die tools.

I have visited some of these companies to inspect the die casting tools. In every instance, I am able to make parts using their die casting tools.

I have found that these customers typically need only a few zinc die casting parts a year. Some times a few hundred zinc parts or a few thousand zinc parts. It seems that the these customers have a need that other die casting companies are not willing to fulfill. I am happy to make the low quantities for these customers.

If you have your die casting tooling from Delmar Die Casting Company, and you need a local California zinc die casting source for zinc parts, contact me here at Kinetic Die Casting Company.

On Die Casting Parts Production: Can I Get Custom Metal Parts or Prototype Parts?

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

On Die Casting Parts Production: Can I Get Custom Metal Parts or Prototype Parts? “Can I get custom metal parts or prototype parts?” This might be the question that you will probably ask out after you have convinced yourself to try the metal die casting parts for your enterprise. In most cases, the answer is yes. Of course, there are dedicated die casting companies that will allow you to see the protoype parts of what you intend to order from them. This is being done by the said firms in order for you to assess the parts physically before they run the mass production.

Prototype and custom metal parts are obtainable for a variety of options. The first one is through the SLA process. SLA is spelled as “Stereo Lithography”. In this process, the prototype parts are created from a plastic that is highly fragile. The parts may easily break when dropped.

The next option is through the prototype castings. Here, a unique SLA is used as a pattern for creating several castings. Unlike with the above process, the prototype castings use metal instead of plastic. The prototype parts almost resemble the design of the original parts that have been requested.

Generally, the prototypes are produced within four to six weeks. They are later delivered to the clients for assessment. Custom parts are also available through a process called CNC machining. The custom parts are often manufactured from heavy-duty metals.
