Aluminum Die Castings News
Aluminum Die Castings News. Aluminum Die Casting is an economical and efficient method of mass producing a certain product through injection of molten metal under pressure into a die. There are several metal alloys used in this process. The most common is aluminum.
Aluminum die castings are commonly used for the production of more complicated components. The properties that made it suitable for complex designs are its better resistance to oxidation of the molten metal and good fluidity. And for practical purposes, aluminum casting alloys have lower melting temperature, resulting to a longer mold and equipment endurance limit. Aluminum castings also have good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Its high thermal and electrical conductivity provides strength at high temperature.
Aluminum casting is classified as mold casting. It has two major processes. The first is to cast aluminum to be transformed into semi- and finish products. The second is used in the foundries for producing cast products. It is the simplest means of manufacturing shaped components.
Aluminum Sand Casting and die casting are the two main groups of aluminum castings. Although both are reusable, low pressure is used in sand casting while die casting uses high pressure. Sand casting is more complicated but both can allow production of cast products with thinner walls.
Aluminum castings continue to expand to almost all known manufacturing processes in the market. Its ability to produce stronger parts with closer tolerances that have greater stability and durability make it suitable for choice for manufacturers. It also primarily has lower finishing costs, making it more economical to use.
