US Shifts Toward More Domestic Manufacturing

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Trend LineBased on workholding orders placed with Master WorkHolding, US manufacturers are reconsidering the cost benefits of off-shoring. As these companies retrieve product lines that are currently made overseas, Master WorkHolding has successfully helped gear up domestic facilities with more efficient and productive workholding.

Other firms are also noticing this recent shift; a newly published Archstone Consulting study determined that “almost 90% of the companies surveyed are considering changing – or have begun changing – their manufacturing and supply strategy and are being more selective in making off-shoring decisions.”

This trend is due to several factors according to this report, including:

• Slower cycle/delivery times
• Lost visibility/control
• 135% increase in ocean freight costs
• Currency valuations
• Rise in global commodity price index

Tour Inside a Metal Casting Company

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

A Quick Tour Inside a Metal Casting Company. An aluminum Die casting company is one in the metalworking industry that offers specific services to other industries. These services pertain to the fabrication of metal parts– from product design to casting, machining, and metal finishing; up to the assembly and testing of the product. These aluminum Die cast metal parts might be for very different purposes, depending on the company involved. Markets and industries that have a need for a aluminum die casting company are the automobile industries, the aeronautic industries, telecommunications, electronics and electrical markets; even the guns and toys market use aluminum Die cast metals for their parts.

Inside a Aluminum Die Casting Company you will find big machines to handle all kinds of aluminum Die casting jobs. There are actually two kinds of equipment in aluminum Die casting; there is the hot-chamber and then there is the cold-chamber machine. The process involves injecting a non ferrous metal with a low melting point on to a die or mold while the metal is in liquid form, then letting the metal harden to the shape of the mold. In this way, a number of metal parts can be manufactured in a small amount of time and still ensure good detail and quality of the mass produced object. Different kinds of metals can be used in making such parts, and the customer can choose depending on the product he wants to be molded. Brass can be used for knobs and fittings, aluminum for heat generating and electronic equipment, lead and tin alloys for piping needs, small parts equipments for zinc, automotive parts for aluminum and magnesium. Consumers Prefer Die Cast Parts

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Consumers Prefer Die Cast Parts. Die cast consumer parts are now the popular choice among the general public, including households and businesses. First of all, the consumer parts produced through die casting are of better quality than those produced by stamping, forging, extrusion, mold casting, and other manufacturing processes.

Various companies today are contracting die casting companies to produce consumer parts that are to be used for modern industrial purposes. Examples of the die castings used by consumers today are found in cellular phones, computers, automobiles, industrial machines, and even in toys, plumbing components, and kitchen metal parts. Truth is, almost every important thing we use in our daily lives has die castings installed in them; we are just unaware of how these were manufactured and what processes were done to incorporate these die castings in them.

Majority of these are aluminum die castings. This is due to obvious reasons. First, aluminum is one of the most abundant metals on earth. Its supply is almost unlimited. Due to this high supply, aluminum is less expensive compared to other metals. Aluminum is also a very light metal, making the whole production process easier, faster and cheaper. Especially in the manufacture of cars, this light weight of aluminum contributes greatly to the ability of the car to get better fuel economy. Other advantages of aluminum include the fact that it is recyclable, malleable and corrosion-resistant. Given these benefits, it is no wonder why major manufacturing companies are now turning to aluminum as an alternative to other metals such as steel or iron.

Aluminum Brackets Hardware for Your Home Needs

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Aluminum Brackets Hardware for Your Home Needs. A bracket is basically an L-shaped fixed edifice that is used for connecting a vertical surface to a horizontal surface. Before, most brackets were made of steel. This was however, impractical, because steel is heavy and expensive. The introduction of aluminum brackets hardware paved the way for lighter and cheaper bracket parts.

Aluminum brackets hardware types include uni-strut universal right-angle surface brackets, angle brackets and multipurpose servo brackets. All of these are made with top quality aluminum and are designed to provide maximum support.

Aluminum brackets hardware have a wide variety of industrial, household and decorative purposes. These are used in lighting fixtures, towel racks, toilet paper holders and shelves. Barns and stables employ the use of aluminum brackets for securing items in place and holding items on the stable walls. Wooden furniture need these brackets for holding drawers together, connecting mirrors to dressers, and holding shelves in cupboards.

Old wooden-framed windows need these brackets to maintain the correct angle of the wooden frames. Construction people use aluminum brackets hardware in holding wooden beams at correct angles. Household electrical boxes incorporate these brackets for holding these boxes into place also at the correct angle. Even chocolate fountains need aluminum brackets to hold parts together into a finished product. The chocolate fountain’s heater plate is kept in place by aluminum brackets hardware. Airplanes also use aluminum brackets. One example is the tray table of the Boeing 747-700 Airplane is supported with two die cast aluminum brackets. These are strong enough to hold a laptop, plates, glasses, and even the arms and hands of somebody working on the table.
